A Note about Conversation & Listening Classes with NESE On-Line

The NESE On-Line curriculum exposes students - even at the lowest levels - to a wide range of authentic spoken English through real-life listening resources including video, audio news programs, a range of podcasts - and of course, your teacher, who is a native speaker. However, when working on your conversation and listening skills, it will be you - and not your teacher - who will do as much of the speaking as possible. At the same time, your teacher will help you develop and improve your skills by presenting you with topic-based vocabulary, correcting your pronunciation, and teaching you idiomatic expressions. Your teacher will also correct your usage consistently and prepare you to use your English confidently in a wide range of social, academic, and professional settings.

NESE's teachers are also trained to highlight the differences between formal English and everyday English, as well as American English, and other dialects. Knowing these nuances will give you the ability to use your English confidently in a wide range of social, academic, and professional settings.

Just like in our Grammar & Idioms courses, the speech functions in the NESE On-Line Conversation & Listening classes are introduced in a spiral fashion. For example, learning to ask questions are introduced in the lower levels. These skills are then repeatedly reviewed, reinforced and further developed as students move up and through the curriculum.
